I paint for the simple enjoyment of capturing a moment in time and enhancing it into a vision that draws the eye and takes the viewer on a journey.
Landscapes that evoke a feeling of tranquility and generate pleasing memories are predominately what appeal to me. I find a plethora of inspiration in the beautiful countryside of Western Australia. These include our lovely South West where I grew up, Rottnest Island and the North West where I have spent many wonderful family holidays. I am drawn to the unique colours of the bushland and forests that surround us. I work to capture the interesting contrasts of light and shadow in our natural environment.
Oil painting is my medium of choice as it allows me to generate and manipulate the array of rich colours and textures I require to create my realism style.
