An exhibition by the Fodder Arts Busselton including Lynne Boladeras, Rosie Johnston, Yvonne Johnston, Gwen Plumb, Deb Robins, Gay Scaddan, Chris Seatory, Elizabeth Staite
en years ago Lynne Boladeras was contacted about teaching my techniques. "When I replied that “I wasn’t a teacher” the ladies said they didn’t mind, they would just like to paint with me. My shed became too hot and crowded so we started hiring the Fodder Room in the ArtGeo Precinct. Since 2010 we have had many ladies paint with us, from Margaret River, Nannup, Dunsborough and the Busselton area. Operating by email, we get together to further our arts practice on most Wednesdays. Occasionally we hold workshops on different techiques and new products but most of the time we work on our own projects and value highly the opportunity for critiques of our paintings as they develop.
Art retreats to Boyup Brook, Pemberton and Balingup have allowed us time to paint “en plein air” in new locations and further our friendship. In 2020 this has been even more important for our mental health. After the COVID-19 lockdown we started meeting very carefully at each other’s homes, before the Fodder room was able to be used. We thank ArtGeo for the opportunity to hold this exhibition in the Bond Store.
Choosing quality canvases and a theme has produced a cohesive body of work and has challenged many in the group to paint larger and in a different format. While a couple of us have had solo exhibitions at Commercial Galleries, most have not. The preparation for this exhibition has been of great interest to the group and further developed their knowledge and appreciation of exhibiting in a Gallery.
