Porcelain & Found Objects

Its always good to push some boundaries even in Ceramics. I wanted to portray the underwater reef but in a more 2D expression as usually I do sculpture. My main aim was to have soft relaxed colour and have the canvas reflect movement without being a 3D artwork. It's shows movement with shape and form, slowly drifting back & forth, pieces of flotsam caught in the reeds of the underwater garden. Serene and mellow, perhaps summer, warm days, lanquid swimming. Each tile is handmade and individually attached to the canvas, fired to bisqueware then glazed and fired again. I always use found objects in my work as I feel they give an authentic feel to my art and upcycling pieces from the shores of Western Australia make it unique.
